Role

Eva Fernandez Martos is currently a Lecturer in Fine Art. She has taught across Level 4 and Level 5 within the course and has led an optional module across different courses within the Design and Digital Art Department. She is leading the practical module in Level 4 and is responsible for organising and delivering workshops, assessment, year meetings, seminars, group and individual tutorials.

Eva specialises in 3D digital design, technology and fabrication.

Career overview

Eva Fernandez Martos is a mechanical engineer retrained as a jewellery artist and designer living in the UK. She holds a Masters of Fine Art in Jewellery Design from Edinburgh College of Art (2017). Since graduating, she has been developing her practice as an artist/designer in parallel with teaching art and design at Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ She joined NTU in 2017 as a lecturer in the Decorative Arts course and currently she is teaching in the Fine Art course.

Research areas

Eva is a practitioner in the field of contemporary design, wearables and artefacts. Eva’s practice crosses the boundaries between art, design and technology. Her practice has been focused on the exploration of conceptual ideas using jewellery as a medium or exploring concepts around jewellery itself.

She is currently looking into how representations, in light of our digital age, could have an impact on the meaning and functions of jewellery.

External activity

Eva’s work has been exhibited nationally and internationally, including: Schmuck (Munich), Collect Art Fair (London), CODA Museum (The Netherlands), Galerie Marzee (The Netherlands), and Beijing International Art Jewellery (China) among others. In 2024, she was awarded the Grand Prix of the 32th International Jewellery Competition of Legnica Silver Festival, and she was the finalist of Enjoia’t Barcelona International Jewellery Competition. Additionally, she is the recipient of the Develop Your Creative Practice grant by the Arts Council England (2021) and she won The Brussels Jewellery Week Award of Budapest Jewellery Week (2022).
